Lashkar Bonala Panduga

Dear friends,
Now it is the time to rejoice with the Hyderabad Bonaala Jathara. Bonala jathara is an annual festival celebrated through out the region of Telangana, including twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Ujjaini Mahankali bonal Jathara also known as Lashkar Bonala Panduga in Secunderabad. It is celebrated on third Sunday of Aashadha masam. It is considered to be the biggest south indian cultural festival. During the festival, Ghatotsavam, Kolupu Potharaju Bali, Rangam, Saganamputa are the main rituals performed at Secunderabad. Potharaju dances, women with Bonalu on their heads, Teen maar beats etc. give a colorful impression of the festival.
The interesting and the concluding part of the Lashkar Bonalu fete was today performed with utmost devotion in Secunderabad. The festivity, Rangam started with procession of Lord Mahankali on an elephant and opened into foretelling of future by a Kanya (an unmarried-woman).
Thousands of devotees thronged the Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad right from early hours on Monday. .
